64 Chevelle Pro Touring

K

Sure, we can make money building cars for auction? That was the plan anyway. Lets take this already great 64 Chevelle SS, build a bitchen Pro Touring car with it and sell it for a profit… It didn’t take long to get the frame off and out to powder coat. The power plant of choice was an LS2 with a 4l60e trans. 400+ hp and reliable all day. A set of stainless steel headers and Magnaflow exhaust has it breathing right. We created our own 4″ aluminum intake tube. The engine compartment is fitted with a lot of hand fabricated and custom work. A one off aluminum formed cover cleans up the factory ac and firewall, with easy accessibility for maintenance. A matching cover cleans up the front of the engine compartment and radiator. Custom machined billet battery hold down and under hood grill give it a one of a kind look. The same details follow suit in the trunk. Bryan B of Barrely Living brought his wood skills to the custom speaker boxes and trunk panels for a factory fitted look. We had to machine custom speaker grills to finish it off. Underneath is a set of Qa1 coil-overs up front and a 3″ drop in the rear. With a custom set of Billet trailing arms. Corvette C5 brakes all the way around shut it down quick. The wheels are 18″ Boss with some custom work in the center. We made a one off set of aluminum center caps modeled after the factory SS hub cap center. Jim Smith of Smith designs laid down a great paint job in the original Almond Fawn color. A little extra flake really makes it pop. The Factory Original interior was too nice to tear out. It gives a great feel having so much performance underneath with the all original inside. We couldn’t leave it all stock though. Kicker stereo all around with a Retro-sound stereo and iPod control bring it up to date. Juniors Custom Upholstery came in and did great work on the trunk and new carpet throughout. The 64 SS turned out just as nice as we planned, now it was off to the auction. Barrett Jackson Florida. Lets just say we didn’t quite brake even. The car was amazing, it had appraised for much higher, what happened? I have my theories! Not long after it ran through Barrett Jackson again in Las Vegas and brought the new owner 95K. Congratulations to him!
